In brief: Venezuela

* The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) has released its latest production report which shows that crude oil production in Venezuela in October reached 1.17m barrels per day (bpd), 3.3% less than in September. According to the Opec report, Venezuela’s October production figures are 39% lower than the average monthly production of 1.9m bpd registered in 2017. The October production figure also marks the lowest monthly production rate in Venezuela in 30 years, and it has led Venezuelan economic consultancy, Econanalítica, to calculate that if the trend of falling oil production continues crude production in Venezuela could fall to just 500,000 bpd next year.
