* President Lenín Moreno has signed a presidential decree formalising the creation of a committee charged with leading the slow process of Ecuador’s accession to membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The committee will be formed of the ministers of finance, foreign trade & investment, foreign affairs, and planning & development. Ecuador’s plan to begin the process of joining the OECD, comprised primarily of rich countries, was first announced by the finance minister, Richard Martínez, in October, and is part of the Andean country’s shift towards a more open economy.
