Exports up. On 6 November Ecuador’s trade and industry ministry released a report citing figures from the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America & the Caribbean (Eclac) which forecasts that Ecuador’s exports will grow 14% in 2018 compared with 2017 – from US$19.6bn to US$22.3bn. According to the same report, exports in the first nine months of 2018 totalled US$16m, up 15.2% on the same period in 2017. The report also highlights that non-petrol exports totalled US$9.54bn in the first nine months of 2018, up 5.3% on the same period in 2017 – the sector’s best growth of the last decade. At the same time, Ecuador’s petrol exports totalled US$6.6bn in the first nine months of 2018, up 33.1% on the same period in 2017.
