Lightsource BP will focus on developing solar and smart storage solutions for Brazil’s domestic, commercial, and industrial sector, while simultaneously developing a pipeline of greenfield solar projects. Mario Lindenhayn, head of country, BP Brazil, notes that BP’s Energy Outlook sees Brazil’s energy consumption growing by 60% by 2040, with the share of renewables within this expected to grow by 47%. Over 40% of Brazil’s energy consumption comes from renewable sources already (primarily hydro), for which Spencer Dale, BP chief economist, called Brazil an example for the world.
