* The Bolivian government has reached an agreement with China to export quinoa to the Asian country, beginning with a shipment of 40 tonnes (t). According to the exporting companies, Simsa and Andean Valley, this first 40t-shipment will generate over US$128m in income. President Evo Morales said that the agreement will allow 15 Bolivian producers to export quinoa to China, and he described the day it was reached as “historic” for producers. Morales said that he will now look to opening other markets for export to China, including soya and meat.
