Labour reform, one of the flagship economic policies of the administration of President Michel Temer, marked its one-year anniversary in November. To-date the new legislation has helped bring down dramatically the number of lawsuits brought by aggrieved workers and cut the amount of damages they seek in compensation. However, it has largely failed in its efforts to generate new jobs.
