In brief: Peru

* Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has released new figures which show that 4.85m people were in employment in the  Lima metropolitan area in 2018 - a 0.8% year-on-year increase. Within these figures, the Inei stated that, in 2018, the population in quality employment totalled 3.83m, down 0.5% on 2017. On the other hand, the underemployed population increased by 3.2%, (a figure which represents an increase of almost 55,400 people), reaching a total of 1.8m people in 2018.
