In brief: Mexico

* Mexico received US$32bn in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2018, up from US$29bn in 2017, according to figures from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released on 21 January. This result places Mexico outside the top 10 host economies for FDI inflows. The report states that Mexico showed a “similar level to the previous year, as foreign investors were reassured by the signing of the revised North American Free Trade Agreement (now USMCA) [with the US and Canada]”.
