In brief: Honduras

* The Central American bank for economic integration (BCIE) has announced that Spain’s debt conversion programme with Honduras, (which the BCIE administered), has officially concluded. According to a BCIE statement, the programme, which began in 2006 and ended in December 2018, helped finance 23 development projects in the strategic areas of education, renewable energy and the environment. Spain’s Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Ana de la Cueva described the programme as a “reference programme that, thanks to the collaboration of all the institutions, has allowed to develop 23 projects which impacted 34 cities and which benefited over 15% of the Honduran population”.
