* Colombia’s state-owned oil company, Ecopetrol, has announced a contingency plan in response to a recent attack on the Caño Limón-Coveñas oil pipeline, in the municipality of Arauquita, Arauca department. Ecopetrol failed to give further details about those affected or who was behind the attack on the pipeline which was also targeted in a bomb attack last month. Last year the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) guerrillas carried out at least 93 improvised explosive device (IED) attacks on oil pipelines and 12 attacks on electricity pylons; an increase on the 63 pipeline attacks recorded in 2017.
