CARICOM: The Caribbean stands by Maduro

When, on 23 January and with diplomatic support from much of the Western world and Latin America, the president of Venezuela’s opposition-controlled National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, declared himself interim president of Venezuela, de facto President Nicolás Maduro will have been grateful not just to the continuing support of the US’s principal geopolitical rivals China and Russia but also to the small neighbouring states of the Caribbean.
