Chile: Government commits to improving cybersecurity

“Today, we are making a great step forward,” President Sebastián Piñera said as he unveiled a draft bill to combat cybercrime and presented a presidential directive on cybersecurity in Chile on 25 October 2018. The projects have been hailed as an important step forward in updating Chile’s obsolete legislation on computer-related crimes, which dates back to 1993, and in pushing on with the implementation of a national policy on cybersecurity, outlined in 2017.
