LatinNews Regional Monitor: Brazil & Southern Cone - 28 March 2019

In brief: Brazil

* Brazil’s Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) has released the latest figures for its consumer confidence index (ICC), which show that consumer confidence fell in March. The March ICC stands at 91 points, its lowest level since October 2018 and 5.1 points lower than in February 2019. “The March result suggests that consumers are disappointed with the rhythm of economic recovery, after they had projected improvements for the economy and family finances in the previous months”, Viviane Seda Bittencourt, coordinator for the consumer survey, said. Bittencourt added that the delay in planned economic reforms has contributed to increased uncertainty.
