In brief: Paraguay

* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new figures which show that the country’s exports in the first three months of 2019 totalled US$3.3bn, 6.1% down on the same period in 2018. The report shows imports in the first quarter of 2019 reached US$2.84bn, 6.9% less than in the same period in 2018. This has left a trade surplus of US$436m, US$1.6m less than the trade surplus registered in the first quarter of 2018.
