* According to new figures from the Dominican Republic’s central bank (BCRD) and tourism ministry (Mitur), tourism was up 4.5% in the first quarter of 2018 compared with the same period in 2018, with the country receiving 2.03m visitors (including residents and non-residents). The figures also show that a total of 1.88m visitors arrived by air in the first quarter of 2019, up from 1.79m in the same period in 2018.
