Sebastián Piñera has inaugurated new works with an investment of US$1.3bn at the copper mine, Minera Los Pelambres, Coquimbo Region, which he said will generate 3,200 new jobs in construction and operation. The works would increase the capacity to grind copper which will allow for 210,000 tonnes (t) of copper to be processed per day.
