MEXICO | Unemployment. The national unemployment rate was 3.6% in March, a 0.3-percentage-point increase from February, Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) reported this week. During the same month in 2018 unemployment was at 3.2%. The latest unemployment statistics mean that there are about 2.02m Mexicans out of work. Unemployment in March was 0.3 percentage points higher for women than for men. It was also higher for people living in urban areas (4.2%). Even among the employed, 7.1% said that they were underemployed.
