In brief: Nicaragua

* Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has published new figures which show that remittances reached US$137.3m in March 2019, up 11.1% on the same month in 2018. In the first quarter of 2019, remittances reached US$383.8m, up 8.6% on the same quarter in 2018. Of the total remittances received in the first quarter, 54.5% came from the US, followed by Costa Rica (19.4%), and Spain (12.5%).
