ARGENTINA: Peronists push aside Macri’s proposed pact

Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri invited leaders of the opposition, including his arch rival former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015), chambers of commerce, trade unions, and religious organisations on 6 May to discuss and implement a 10-point accord designed to assuage the concerns of the markets ahead of October’s presidential elections, and revive faith in the country’s faltering economy. Reception of the proposal was negative.
