* In a press conference, Panama’s Economy & Finance Minister Eyda Varela de Chinchilla expressed hopes that the new Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD) administration, which will take office next month led by President-elect Laurentino Cortizo, would continue with President Juan Carlos Varela’s infrastructure agenda. There are planned investment projects worth US$10bn, including a fourth bridge over the Panama Canal, a third Metro Line, and various extensions to highways, which are expected to generate 40,000 jobs.
