* Brazil’s agriculture ministry (Mapa) says it has asked the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to investigate Indonesia for its barriers to Brazilian chicken exports. In 2017, Brazil won a dispute against Indonesia in the WTO, but the Mapa says that Indonesia has not abided by the WTO’s June 2018 deadline to eliminate its barriers to exports of Brazilian poultry. Brazil’s latest request to the WTO will be discussed by the organisation’s Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) on 24 June, when the DSB will also establish whether Indonesia is violating agreements on sanitary and phytosanitary barriers by continuously delaying sanitary recognition for Brazilian exporters without valid justification.
