* Mexico's President
Andrés Manuel López Obrador has announced the rehabilitation of a fertilizer plant in Camago, a city in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. According to a speech by President López Obrador at the site, the petrochemical plant, which produces ammonia and urea, will be restored to produce fertilizer to increase national agricultural production. The plant was rendered inactive in 2002 and bought by state-owned oil company Pemex under the direction of former Pemex director
Emilio Lozoya (2012-2016), who has been the target of a corruption investigation by the attorney general’s office. In his speech, President López Obrador explained that the government is working out the time needed to reopen the plant for full operation, with the goal to complete it by the last year of his government in 2024.
