LatinNews Regional Monitor: Brazil & Southern Cone - 26 June 2019

In brief: Brazil

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (IBGE) has released its consumer price index (IPCA) for June, which shows a slow-down in inflation. The IPCA increased by 0.06% in June, after a 0.35% increase in May. The accumulated IPCA for the first six months of 2019 stands at 2.33%, while the accumulated annual IPCA to June 2019 stands at 3.84% – down from 4.93% in the previous 12 months to May 2019. This deceleration was driven by a fall in the price of foodstuffs and fuel (especially ethanol fuel).
