In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said that his administration is conducting a clean-up of the state-run oil company Pemex to stamp out corruption, and that it is now revising the contracts that Pemex has signed with Spanish shipyards under previous administrations. López Obrador’s remarks follow the recent arrest of the Pemex’s former CEO Emilio Lozoya Austin (2012-2016) over suspected corruption related to Pemex’s purchase of a fertilizer plant in 2016.
