recent announcement that it is to impose countervailing duties (CVDs) on Mexican and Chinese fabricated structural steel imports. Márquez insisted that the tariffs are not part of a trade war but rather a common practice, pointing out that Mexico recently announced it was imposing tariffs on products from Russia, Brazil, and China – a move which she claimed did not signify a
“trade war with Russia, Brazil or China” but rather that the economy ministry's international trade practices unit (UPCI) had deemed it necessary.
