In brief: Argentina to reap record harvest

* According to Argentina’s ministry of agroindustry, Argentina is expected to reap a record harvest for the 2018-2019 cycle, by producing 147m tonnes (t) of crops. Estimates are based on objective methods of analysis which cover an area of 1.8m hectares, 5% of Argentina’s agricultural land. After 2018’s costly drought, July’s agricultural estimate is expected to reach a historical high, with maize and wheat estimated to produce 57m t and 19.5m t, respectively.
