In brief: Brazil suspends new freight transportation rates

* Brazil’s national terrestrial transport agency (ANTT) has, at the request of the infrastructure ministry, suspended a resolution which established new rules for the calculation of the minimum freight transport rates (known as the ‘tabela do frete’) which came into force on 20 July. Citing, for example, the failure to include road toll fees in the calculation of the minimum freight rate, the infrastructure ministry feared that the new rules would lead to strikes in the freight transportation sector.
