In brief: Mexico posts June trade surplus despite 20% oil exports decline

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show a trade surplus of US$2.6bn for June 2019. In contrast, June 2018 recorded a trade deficit of US$899m. According to Inegi, exports totalled US$37.95bn in June 2019, up 1.2% on the same month in 2018, although oil exports saw a 20.4% fall. Imports for June totalled US$35.39bn indicating a 7.8% decrease from June 2018, with an 18.6% decrease in oil imports.
