In brief: Colombia’s budget to reactivate economy

* Colombia’s Finance Minister Alberto Carrasquilla has presented a draft national budget (PGN) for the fiscal year 2020, which he vows is committed to the reactivation of the Colombian economy. The budget is for Col$271.7trn (US$82.7bn), up 9% on the previous year, with education to receive Col$43.1trn, labour Col$31.5trn, and health and social protection Col$31.8trn. President Iván Duque’s government has said that the budget must be consistent with the fiscal strategy embodied in the medium-term fiscal framework, ensuring the sustainability of state finances.
