In brief: Brazil’s July vehicle production best for six years

* Brazil’s national association of automotive manufacturers (Anfavea) has reported that vehicle production in July reached its highest levels for the month in six years, growing 14.2% compared with June and 8.4% compared with July 2018. For the year to July, vehicle production increased 3.6% compared with the same period in 2018 despite a 38.4% fall in vehicle exports, driven by the economic crisis in Argentina. Sales on the domestic market for the first seven months of the year increased by 12.1%, above expectations. The president of Anfavea, Luiz Carlos Moraes, said that the industry is “discretely optimistic”.
