ARGENTINA: Macri camp confident ahead of primaries

“Your declaration is decisive. Nothing scares them more than people like you saying that you will vote for me.” With this Twitter post Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri has tried this week to encourage his electoral support base to declare their support for him ahead of the 11 August open, mandatory, and simultaneous party primaries (Paso) leading up to the 27 October general election. The final voting intention polls before the Paso show that the Juntos por el Cambio electoral ticket led by Macri has managed to close the lead enjoyed by the Frente de Todos hard-line Peronist opposition ticket.
