In brief: Moody’s reports on positive impact of new Argentine gas pipeline

* Credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service has said that the decision by the Argentine goverment to tender a new gas pipeline linking the 'Vaca Muerta' shale hydrocarbon deposit in the south-eastern province of Neuquén to central Argentina, where 60% of the country's natural gas demand is concentrated, will improve the medium-term prospects for gas production companies. The US$2bn project is slated to be completed by 2021. According to a Moody's report, the tender will attract offers from the two principle operators of gas pipelines in Argentina, Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) and Transportadora de Gas del Norte (TGN), in which energy production companies Pampa Energía and Tecpetrol, respectively, have stakes.
