In brief: Fewer jobs created in Mexico in July

* Zoé Robledo, director general of Mexico’s social security institute (IMSS), has announced that 16,713 new formal jobs were created in July 2019. However, this compares with 54,669 created in July 2018 – the highest total for the month of July in a decade. According to the IMSS figures, in the year to July 306,014 new formal jobs were created compared with 530,789 new posts registered in the same period in 2018.
