In brief: Argentina registered 2.2% monthly inflation in July

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures which show that monthly inflation for July was 2.2%, bringing the year-on-year total to 54.4%. This follows a monthly inflation rate of 2.7% in June and 55.8% year-on-year figure. The July result marks the fifth consecutive month of falling monthly inflation. However, analysts widely expect inflation to rise again following the sharp devaluation of the peso due to the financial turmoil following the party primary elections in Argentina which gave a major victory to the Frente de Todos opposition presidential ticket led by Alberto Fernández.
