In brief: El Salvador’s exports up 0.9% in first seven months of 2019

* El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures which show the country’s exports in the first seven months of the year totalled US$3.59bn, up 0.9% on the same period in 2018. The main market for El Salvador’s exports remains the US, which accounted for US$1.5bn of the total, US$56.3m less than in the same period in 2018. Exports to Central America totalled 1.6bn, up 7.2% on the same period in 2018. The figures also show that imports totalled US$7bn, up 4.8% on the same period in 2018.
