NICARAGUA: Pressure builds on Ortega over refusal to dialogue

President Daniel Ortega is facing mounting international pressure following his decision to end dialogue with the opposition movement Alianza Cívica por la Justicia y la Democracia (ACJD) [WR-19-31], aimed at finding a solution to the political crisis dating back to April 2018. The pressure comes as a recent report by the Economic Commission for Latin America & the Caribbean (Eclac) has highlighted the continuing damaging effect of the crisis on Nicaragua’s economy – this time in terms of investment.
