MEXICO: López Obrador brokers a deal with big business
They had not shared a platform in public for almost a year. But on 27 August, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim took part in President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s regular early morning press conference, confirming a deal to end a long-running gas pipeline dispute. A rapprochement with big business could be very timely for the Mexican government.
