* The Bolivian government led by President Evo Morales has hailed the country’s first shipment of over 48 tonnes (t) of beef for China. According to the government, it plans to send around 8,000t of beef to this year to China. China is Bolivia’s biggest source of imports. According to local private think-tank Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE), in the first half of 2019, China accounted for 22% of Bolivia’s total imports (US$4.9bn) while Bolivia’s exports to China totalled US$182m (out of US$4.2bn).
