In brief: Mexico’s central bank reduces growth forecast

* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has reduced its growth forecast for 2019 to 0.2%-0.7%, down from 0.8%-1.8% in March. The latest revised economic growth figures from Inegi, Mexico’s national statistics institute, show that seasonally adjusted GDP grew 0% in the second quarter of 2019 compared with the previous quarter, narrowly avoiding a technical recession, as GDP contracted 0.2% in the first quarter.
