In brief: Colombian coffee production falls 11% in August

* The national federation of Colombian coffee producers (FCN) has reported that national coffee production was 1.12m 60-kilo bags in August 2019, down 11% on the total for August 2018. However, the figures show coffee production was up 3% in the first eight months of the year to 9.12m 60-kilo bags, compared with 8.84m bags harvested between January and August 2018. Meanwhile coffee exports in August 2019 were up 19% on the same month in 2018 while for the first eight months of the year coffee exports were up 10% compared with the same period in 2018, with a total of 8.9m bags exported.
