Chile brings in the army to fight drug trafficking

As of 6 August, Chile’s armed forces are authorised to work alongside the police force in the fight against drug trafficking along the country’s borders. This comes after the comptroller general’s office gave the go-ahead to a decree announced by President Sebastián Piñera to that effect on 9 July.
