Along with the rest of Central America, Honduras is facing its worst dengue outbreak in over 50 years. On 2 July, the Partido Nacional (PN) government led by President Juan Orlando Hernández declared the whole country under a state of emergency. By 25 August the government was reporting that the country had accumulated 61,534 cases, of which 12,763 were severe cases, while 106 deaths have been confirmed with a further 62 under analysis.
