In brief: Brazil annual inflation at 3.43%

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest figures for the national consumer price index (IPCA), which registered a 0.11% monthly variation in August. This is below monthly inflation in July, which stood at 0.19%, with the food and transport sectors seeing a fall in prices in August. Inflation for the year to date stands at 2.54%, and for the 12 months to August 2019 at 3.43%.
