VENEZUELA: Maduro attacks Guaidó over Guyana stance

On 6 September, Venezuela’s de facto president, Nicolás Maduro, conditioned his government’s return to the dialogue table with the political opposition on Juan Guaidó altering his stance on the country’s claim to Guyana’s Essequibo region, accusing the opposition figurehead and internationally recognised interim president of being prepared to renounce Venezuela’s claim to 160,000km2 of disputed territory in exchange for international support.
