In brief: Uruguay and Japan sign double taxation accord

* Uruguay’s economy & finance minister Danilo Astori and Japan’s ambassador to Uruguay Tatsuhiro Shindo have signed a bilateral tax agreement, with the purpose of eliminating double taxation arising between the two countries. The accord focuses on taxation on business profits and taxation on investment income and covers cooperation on preventing international tax evasion and tax avoidance.
