Maduro turns the screw on Guaidó

Venezuela’s de facto government is ratcheting up the pressure on the widely recognised interim president Juan Guaidó with a legal fusillade. At a personal level, not only is Guaidó being investigated for treason in two separate cases but he also stands accused of forging links with the Colombian narcoparamilitary group Los Rastrojos. President Nicolás Maduro opened up another front against Guaidó at a political level this week when it announced an accord with a minority opposition group intended to divide the traditionally fragmented movement he has worked hard to unite.
