Honduras and US discuss migration in Washington

Brazil: On 13 September US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo met Brazil’s foreign minister, Ernesto Araújo, to launch the US-Brazil Strategic Partnership Dialogue in Washington, DC. Pompeo and Araújo highlighted the establishment of a private sector-led, US$100m, 11-year impact investment fund for Amazon biodiversity conservation, following through on the commitment made in March by Presidents Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro. The two also underscored the “significant and growing economic relationship” between the US and Brazil. Pompeo commended Brazil for its decisive leadership in addressing the ongoing crisis in Venezuela. He applauded Brazil’s commitment to co-host the Warsaw Process working group on humanitarian issues and refugees as part of the Ministerial to Promote Peace and Security in the Middle East.
