MEXICO: Morena and PAN entangled in political battle
No fewer than three state governors are under threat of impeachment by Mexico’s federal senate. This is the result of the political brinkmanship between the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) and the right-wing main opposition Partido Acción Nacional (PAN). Morena and the PAN may only be trying to score political points against each other. But the showdown has the potential to cause serious damage to Mexico’s political system.
