Rafael Alarcón and
Mauro Mendes, the governor of Brazil’s Mato Grosso state, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Bolivia to export electricity and potassium chloride, which is used as fertiliser, to Mato Grosso. According to Bolivia’s official news agency
Abi, the agreement sets out that Bolivia will establish a thermoelectricity generation plant, run on natural gas, in the municipality of San Matías, Santa Cruz department, to export up to 90MW of electricity to Mato Grosso. It adds that Bolivia will invest in a transmission line to supply the electricity. The potassium chloride will come from a potassium chloride plant located in Potosí department.
