In brief: Ecuador’s GDP up 0.3% in second quarter

* Ecuador’s central bank (BCE) revealed new figures which show the country’s GDP grew 0.3% in the second quarter of 2019 year-on year and grew 0.4% quarter-on-quarter. BCE attributed the interannual growth to an increase in household spending (up 0.6%) and exports (up 5.7%). In addition, the BCE has announced that Ecuador registered a current account deficit of US$36.9m for Q2 2019, compared with a deficit of US$267.4m in the same period of 2018.
